Back to it!!

This is our remodeling team, (aka) Carthel Farms crew!  These handsome guys  are the hardest workers I know!
Remember in our previous posts, the pretty country stairway, blue carpet, and stripped paneling?  Well, it's gone; and as you will soon see it is now a clean slate. We started out thinking that we would keep most of the original  layout, but,  during the process of fixing things and trying to match sub-floors and fix leaking pipes and  trying to plan out a lighting pattern...etc..we found major issues involving gas, water and MOLD!!  So long story short, we removed floor/ceiling, and the small blue bedroom and bath. This decision forced us to rethink everything! We are happy we did it now because of the living space we've gained. Now, we'll have a large kitchen and dinning room to do what we want to do more of which is entertain friends and family.  :)

The guys are standing in the small blue room by the kitchen.

The ceiling in the front entrance needed love, so I dressed her in  pretty tongue & groove. Now she's ready to meet her guest in her new dress! I know, I know.... :0}

Before picture of the small blue bedroom.

We managed to make our way upstairs. So far we've removed the paneling, and  put new sheet rock up.  That's as far as we've gotten up there.

We found a leak in the copper pipes beneath the up-stairs bathroom. The ceiling was wet and fuzzy green...it had to come down!  Guy replaced the soft copper with PEX  a cross linked polyethylene; long lasting and safe for houses. :)

Removing the floor was very difficult!  It was 3" tongue & groove in one part,  then layers of laminate, tongue & groove and sub-floor...my blood pressure goes up just remembering it!! I am so glad we took the floor up because it gave the guys easy  access to the plumbing and rotten/old joist that needed to be replaced. Now the floors are LEVEL! I write this with glee in my heart!! :)

 Tyson started running a fever on the last day of installing the new sub-floor.

Dru and Guy finishing up the new sub-floor! YAY!!

Next time we'll talk about the blue-shag large bedroom...and the on-suite.  :)
